The Stairwalker was designed by Mr Geoffrey Webber MBE, TD

The aid was designed to prevent his 87 year old father -in -law from being isolated within one storey of the house, after having both legs amputated below the knee.

The resulting enthusiasm and support from medical professionals encouraged him to help others regain their independence, dignity and freedom, whilst benefiting from gentle exercise.

Balance

Just as a zimmer type walking frame provides better balance than a single walking stick, your balance on the stairs is immeasurably improved over a single hand rail by using both hands on the stairwalker crossbar.

Strength

By using both arms on the stairwalker crossbar in conjunction with your shoulders, your strength is enhanced and used to maximum efficiency.

Security

Making ascending and descending stairs safer will help prevent some of the many accidents every year, many of which result in serious injury or death.

Is It unobtrusive?

The stairwalker needs no more room than your existing hand rail. It will not obstruct your staircase, landings or hall.

Can I use it in my own home?

The stairwalker will fit most straight domestic staircases and can be used by almost anyone who requires additional support. This includes most zimmer frame and walking stick users.

Is it reliable?

With no electro- mechanical moving parts it requires no electrical installation, and no regular maintenance.
